UCP Platform: Getting Alberta Back to Work

The United Conservatives are presenting Albertans with a positive, common-sense plan to bring change that gets Alberta back to work. We will scrap the carbon tax, create good jobs, fight without relent to get pipelines built, and stand up to Justin Trudeau and those who are holding us back.

We will work every day to ensure Alberta is the best place to live, work, start a business, and raise a family.

It’s time for a change – a positive change that creates good jobs, brings common- sense to government, and builds an Alberta that is strong and free.

Scrapping the Carbon Tax

Getting rid of the NDP’s job-killing carbon tax would be the first order of business for a United Conservative government. Scrapping the carbon tax will allow families to keep more of their money and create 6,000 new jobs.

Creating Oil and Gas Jobs

Alberta’s energy sector has seen our province thrive for generations. The United Conservatives’ energy policy would ensure we manage our resources responsibly while bringing back jobs for the hard-working men and women employed in the oil & gas industry.

Standing Up For Alberta, Getting Pipelines Built

Pipelines are how we get our oil and gas to market for sale. The lack of pipeline capacity causes the price for our oil to go down and prevents further investment. A United Conservative government will pursue every pipeline project to get our oil and gas to market.

Health Care Guarantee

A United Conservative Government is committed to maintaining or increasing health spending and will ensure a universally-accessible, publicly-funded health-care system.

Affordable Electricity for Albertans

A United Conservative government will ensure Alberta has a market-based electricity system that welcomes green power and provides affordable electricity for job-creators to get Albertans back to work.

Arts and Culture

Getting Alberta back to work and diversifying our economy will require supporting the growth of our cultural enterprises.

Politician Pay Cuts

Albertans want leadership from their elected officials. In a United Conservative government, fiscal responsibility will start at the top.

Giving municipalities more autonomy and predictability and providing transparency for voters.

Fairness for Newcomers

Knocking down barriers to make the most of talented new Albertans to renew the Alberta Advantage and get our economy back to work.

Balancing the Budget

The NDP’s spending has been out of control. Their multi-billion dollar deficits each year have added almost $100 billion to the provincial debt. The United Conservatives have a credible plan to balance the budget within their first mandate.
